While recent advancements have made LGBT people a more accepted part of society many challenges remain, especially for LGBT youth and young adults. Whether because of bullying, isolation, or perceived stereotypes, too many of our youth lack the support, mentors, or tools to pursue their dreams.
The Next Generation Leadership Foundation is dedicated to inspiring, nurturing and mentoring LGBT youth and young adults, creating spaces for them to lead in a variety of fields, from business to politics to activism to arts. By providing opportunities and support to young LGBT people, we will help them achieve their dreams while being a part of our vibrant and healthy community.
The Next Generation Leadership Camp annually brings LGBT high school students to Washington, D.C., for a weeklong agenda of leadership training, skills development, and face-to-face meetings with successful LGBT leaders from a diverse range of fields – from politics to arts to business to sports to advocacy. The next Leadership Camp will take place in June 2015.
The Next Generation Awards honor the achievements and potential of LGBT leaders under 30. Past honorees have distinguished themselves in advocacy, media, business, medicine, arts, and other fields. Winners are featured in a cover story for presenting sponsor Metro Weekly, Washington’s LGBT newsmagazine. The seventh annual Washington, D.C., awards will be presented in May 2015.
The Next Generation Leadership Foundation's programs are made possible with the generous support and cooperation of our partners.
